Privacy Policy
Effective: October 2026
This policy explains what MinnesotaBankruptcyLawyer.com collects, what we do with it, and what choices you have. We have tried to write it in plain language. If anything is unclear, email us at contact@minnesotabankruptcylawyer.com.
One thing matters more than everything else on this page, so we will say it first: if you submit an inquiry through this site, we sell the information in that inquiry to one or more independent Minnesota bankruptcy attorneys, who pay us for it. That is how this service makes money. Details are below.
Who we are
MinnesotaBankruptcyLawyer.com is a matching and advertising service operated from Minneapolis, Minnesota. We are not a law firm and we are not lawyers. We connect people who are considering bankruptcy with independent Minnesota attorneys who choose to purchase their inquiries.
What we collect
When you submit the inquiry form, we collect what you type into it:
- Your name, phone number, and email address
- Your ZIP code and county or city
- The approximate amount of debt you selected and the types of debt involved
- Any urgency flags you selected, such as wage garnishment, foreclosure, or repossession
- Your preferred contact time
We do not ask for, and do not want, your Social Security number, account numbers, or other financial account details. Please do not type them into the form.
We also collect the minimal technical information needed to run a website, such as the date and time your form was submitted and the IP address it was submitted from, which we use for spam prevention and rate limiting. See the Cookies section below.
How your information is used: we sell it to attorneys
When you submit an inquiry, we store it and offer it for purchase to independent Minnesota bankruptcy attorneys who participate in our service. An attorney pays us a fee for each inquiry they buy. One of two things happens:
- Shared: more than one attorney may buy the same inquiry. In that case, several attorneys receive your contact information and more than one may reach out to you.
- Exclusive: a single attorney pays a higher fee to be the only purchaser. In that case, only that one attorney receives your contact information.
Attorneys decide for themselves whether to buy an inquiry, based on factual details such as your location and debt range. We do not evaluate your case, and we do not pick an attorney for you.
What purchasing attorneys may do
An attorney who purchases your inquiry receives your name, phone number, email address, location, and the details you provided about your debts. They may contact you by phone or email, at your preferred contact time where possible, to discuss whether they can help you. Once an attorney has your information, their own privacy practices apply to how they handle it. They are independent of us.
What is shown publicly
Participating attorneys can see a listing of open inquiries before buying. These listings show only non-identifying details, such as county, debt range, debt types, and urgency flags. Your name, phone number, email address, and street address are never shown publicly or in these listings. Your contact information goes only to the attorney or attorneys who purchase your inquiry.
Service providers
Like most websites, we use a small number of outside companies to operate: a payment processor (to charge attorneys for inquiries they buy), an email delivery provider (to send notifications and confirmations), and database and hosting vendors (to store data and keep the site running). These companies process information on our behalf so the service can function. They are not permitted to use your information for their own purposes.
No other sale of your information
The attorney transactions described above are the only sale of your information we make. We do not sell or rent your information to data brokers, marketers, or anyone else. We may disclose information if the law requires it, such as in response to a valid legal request.
How long we keep your information
We keep inquiry records for as long as we need them to run the service, handle billing and disputes with purchasing attorneys, and meet our legal obligations. After that, we delete or anonymize them. You can also ask us to delete your information sooner; see the next section.
Your choices and rights
You can email contact@minnesotabankruptcylawyer.com at any time to:
- Ask what information we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your information
We will honor deletion requests, with one honest caveat: if an attorney has already purchased your inquiry, we cannot pull your information back from that attorney. You would need to contact them directly. We can and will delete it from our own systems.
Cookies and analytics
We keep this minimal. The site may use basic cookies needed for the site to work and simple analytics to count visits and see which pages are used. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not build marketing profiles of visitors.
Children
This service is for adults. It is not directed to anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted a form, email us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will post the updated version here with a new effective date. If a change meaningfully affects how your information is sold or shared, we will make that change prominent on this page before it takes effect.
